Founded and run by a group of travellers who had lots of fun backpacking around the world.

They have been building Dougies Backpackers for over 12 years and have the relaxed atmosphere, without all of the formal procedures that some hostels have.

Located on the left hand side on the way into town so nice and easy to find.

Once you see the tropical gardens and cruisy front lawn you might just want to lay back and relax under a palm tree, kick back in a hammock, by the pool or you may even like to unwind on the grass and soak up some of the Far North’s warm tropical sunlight.

Their aim is to provide a memorable highlight of your visit to Australia, whether you stay for just a few days or get a job in town and stay for months.

Of the other half dozen or so we've stayed so far in Australia, this was the by far the best - if we didn't have to move on we'd likely still be there. We met Chippy a fellow about our age who got there about 10 years ago and never left!
