Port Douglas and Mossman Gorge

Spend the day exploring Port Douglas and Mossman Gorge and discover some well-known sights as well as a few hidden treasures.

After taking in the picturesque vistas that Port Douglas has to offer, make your way through the different environments of the Wildlife Habitat. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to feed kangaroos and wallabies from your hands, as well as observe cassowaries, crocodiles, and Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroos.

After meeting all your new furry friends it will be time to head to Mossman Gorge. Here you can participate in a Smoking Ceremony and a Welcome to Country Ceremony with an Indigenous Guide. In order to learn more about their culture and relationship with the area, join them for an immersive guided walk. On the other hand, you can explore the surrounding region and its many different hiking trails to choose from, each suiting different levels of fitness.

Amazing scenery and Wildlife

Enjoy a quick sightseeing tour of Port Douglas before you take in the amazing views from Flagstaff Hill. Gaze out across the expansive Four Mile Beach, before heading over to Wildlife Habitat.

See the rare Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo – only found in Far North Queensland!

The Wildlife Habitat Experience is unlike anything else you’ve ever had before. Would you like to see a Southern Cassowary or on the other hand maybe a Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo?

At the same time, perhaps you want to feed Wallabies and Kangaroos by hand? What about taking part in a crocodile feeding show not to mention getting your picture taken with a Koala?

The Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas has each of these activities available of course!

Mossman Gorge

Anyone who is heading to Port Douglas certainly has to make time to get to Mossman Gorge. Mossman Gorge is a 56,000-hectare section of the World Heritage-listed Daintree National Park that is well renowned for its stunning rainforests. The Mossman Gorge Centre is a one-of-a-kind link to the lives, cultures, and stories of Australia’s Indigenous people. So you can learn all about their connection to the natural environment. It also serves as the entrance to the Daintree Rainforest, the oldest rainforest in the world.

Begin your journey through the Gorge with a walk through the luscious green Rainforest that surrounds the area. Explore the walking routes and trails of the national park, especially the well-known Gorge Circuit. You can explore at your own leisurely speed or then again, why not join a guided walk?

In either case, you will find yourself in the midst of the towering canopies of the tropical rainforest, with stunning mountains in the background.

Want to explore a bit more of the Indigenous Culture? Why not take a look at the Dreamtime Mossman Gorge and Wildlife Tour. This tour offers the same itinerary here, but instead of free time exploring Mossman Gorge you can join a Dreamtime Walk instead.
